Perumal is Trinethran in Ugra form. The temple is more than 1500 years old.

Panaka Narasimha swamy temple is on the top of the hill.  The panakam , offering is poured into the mouth of the rock cut image of the deity. Only half of whatever quantity offered is accepted by Narasimha. There are no ants/ flies inside temple premise, though panakam is offered to god. 

Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple is on the foot of the hill, which you should not miss.

Karungulam is also known as Vagulagiri Kshetram. Vagulagiri is small hill situated on the southern bank of Tamirabarani river. The temple is more than 1000 years old.
The presiding deity is Venkatachalapathy perumal (Lord made of sandalwood sticks)

There are two temples - one of Srinivasar and another of Venkatachalapathy besides each other on the same hill.

Lord Venkatachalapathy is said to cure those suffering from heart diseases, relieve the devotees of Naga dosha and psychological problems like depression.
