This temple should have been constructed 2000 years back and the village was called Tiruvadugur, mentioned as Vadugur(Vatukur) in Thevaram. Padalpetra sthalam- Thirugnanasambandam. Thirugnanasambandar praised the temple in his hymns. This is the 16th Shiva Temple of Nadunadu region praised in Thevaram. The temple is under the control of Archaeological Survey of India, and renovation work is under progress.

This temple is also a padal petra sthalam. 

How to reach:

On the Cuddalore-Chidambaram road, Mettupalayam is situated 20kms away. Take a right turn here and Tiruthinai Nagar now called Theerthanagiri can be reached (5kms). On the eastern side bank of Perumal eri.

MANGALAPUREESWARAR TEMPLE, TIRUCHOPURAM

Arulmigu Sathyayathakshi sametha Mangalapureswarar Temple (Tiruchobaranathasamy Temple)

The is a Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam in Nadu Naadu. The temple is facing west surrounded by raised wall on all the sides with main entrance on the west. There is no Rajagopuram. The koil manyakarar's sister was very kind enough to help our darshan. She expressed willingness to help pilgrims at any time.

Amman     : Thyagavalli , Velnedunganni, Sathyakshi.

How to reach:

On the Cuddalore-Chidambaram main road, Alapakkam is on the 18th km from cuddalore, take a left turn and the road goes to Alapakkam Railway station. Cross the railway line, Tiruchopuram is 2 kms from the main road. The nearby village is Thyagavalli. Nagarjuna Oil refinery is very close by.

VAMANAPUREESWARAR TEMPLE, THIRUMANIKUZHI

Thirugnanasambandar Paadal Petra Sthalam of Nadu Naadu. Thirumal worshiped in this temple to remove sin (by killing Mabali Chakravarthy) in Vamana Avatharam.
